Bill King’s Rhythm Express feat. Jay Douglas, Selena Evangeline, Stacey Kay and award winning reggae artist Dubmatix.

Pianist, composer and publisher, Bill King is a multi-talented musician whose current recording credits include Five Aces, Gloryland, Sweet Sugar Cane, and Cinemascope. Originally from Jeffersonville Indiana, King spent his youth studying with W.C. Handy’s former pianist Eva Smith, the Louisville Academy of Music’s Don Murray and Indiana University saxophonist-educator Jamey Aebersold.

King became the artistic director and emcee of The Beaches International Jazz Festival in 1987 and launched The Jazz Report magazine. The recording Five Aces, his most recent release, maintained nineteen months on the Roots Music Charts. Joining King for a highly anticipated special performance is of classic ska, reggae and soul – vocalist Jay Douglas. Jay was proclaimed winner of NOW Magazine’s Toronto’s “Best R&B Act” in 2006, and “Male Reggae Vocalist of the Year” at the Annual Toronto Reggae Awards in 2007. During this time Seattle, Washington-based promotions company, “Light in the Attic”, made Jay their band leader for the “From Jamaica to Toronto” concert launch at the Harbourfront Centre. Recently. Jay was nominated for “Reggae Recording of the Year” at the 2012 JUNO Awards and was the recipient of the “G98.7 FM Entertainment Award” at the Harry Jerome awards that same year.

Also, award winning producer & multi-instrumentalist Dubmatix returns with his 5th album release “Rebel Massive” -­- a bass heavy assault of the senses – the amazing vocal styling’s of Selena Evangeline and Stacey Kay who just saw the release of her smashing single ‘Island Girl’. Rounding out the band – trombonist Christopher Butcher, saxman Bobby Hsu and percussionist delight – Jorge Luis Papiosco..
