Frank Sinatra, Jr. was born in New Jersey, raised in California, and educated in the showrooms of Las Vegas and on bandstands all over the world. While studying music at the University of Southern California, Frank Jr. planned a career as a pianist and conductor. He made his professional show business debut as a singer with the Elliott Brothers Band and in 1963 he toured with the Tommy Dorsey Band.
1965 saw the release of his first album, Young Love for Sale, a collection of showroom standards. In 1969, he hosted an hour-long TV special, “Frank Sinatra, Jr. with Family and Friends,” on which he was joined by his sister Nancy and father, as well as folks like Jack Benny and Sammy Davis, Jr. In the 1970s, he released his next two albums: Spice featured Frank Jr.’s writing talents and His Way included an unpredictable assortment of hand-picked contemporary songs.
Throughout the 1980’s Frank’s live act concentrated on big-band songs. Beginning in 1988, at his father’s request, Frank Jr. served as conductor and musical director for his father’s final years of performing. Their duet on “My Kind of Town” was considered to be the highlight of the elder Sinatra’s best-selling Duets II set.
In 1996, Frank Jr. released his first full-length album in nearly 20 years, As I Remember It, which tells the story of the Sinatra Legend. After his father’s death in 1998, audiences honored Frank, Jr. and his 36-piece orchestra with numerous standing ovations during his three sold-out shows commemorating “Ol’ Blue Eyes” at the Sands Hotel Casino. The show continues to tour all over the world.
Frank has appeared on television numerous times, including appearances on Sopranos, Son of the Beach, Family Guy, and The Defenders. He also appeared in Harrison Ford’s movie Hollywood Homicide. Frank Jr.’s latest album, That Face, was released in 2006.
The songs of Sinatra need to be sung and Frank Jr. has inherited that honor. In song and style Frank Sinatra, Jr. pays homage to his father, the singer and the music that defines the Sinatra legend by successfully touring the country performing “Sinatra Sings Sinatra.” with his 8-piece band.
